The Abyss is the heart of Aion 2 PvP content. It combines open-world combat, faction warfare, territory control, monster farming, and large-scale battles.
When the Steam version launches, the Lower Reshanta area will open first. Players must reach Character Level 45 (CL45) and have an Item Level of 1000 (IL1000) before entering.
By default, players can stay in the Abyss for 14 hours per week. This time limit can be extended through special items that are crafted or dropped by Abyss monsters. Players can also gain additional Abyss time through membership benefits.
Inside the Abyss, players can visit the Command Merchant, where they can purchase up to 20 commands per week. These commands provide quests that must be completed within the Abyss. Completing them rewards players with:
- Abyss Points
- Upgrade materials
- Additional Abyss time extensions
The Abyss also contains valuable resources such as Empyrean Trace Feathers, but collecting them comes with risk because enemy players can attack at any moment.
Fortress Battles and Abyss Corridors
The Abyss map contains faction zones and three major Abyss Corridors. These corridors become important during fortress battles, where factions compete for control points.
The more points a faction controls, the stronger the faction-wide buff becomes for the following days.
The faction that controls an Abyss Corridor gains access to a special grinding area. This location is one of the best AP farming spots because monsters inside drop large amounts of Abyss Points.
However, access is limited. Players can enter this special farming area only once per occupation, with each entry lasting approximately 3 minutes, making efficient farming essential.
Abyss Field Bosses and PvP Rewards
Abyss field bosses provide some of the most valuable PvP progression materials.
Defeating Abyss field bosses can reward players with Hero's Proofs, which are used to craft Merit Chests. Opening Merit Chests provides Medals, the currency required to exchange for high-grade PvP equipment.
Each Abyss region operates independently. When the Lower and Middle Abyss areas become available, factions will need large raid groups to compete for Abyss Corridors and control important objectives.
The Upper Abyss layer works differently. It was added to the Taiwan server after several seasons and functions mainly as a monster farming area. This allows newer players with lower combat power to participate in Abyss progression without immediately entering intense PvP conflicts.
Abyss Battlefield Schedule and Rules
Large-scale Abyss battles follow a fixed schedule:
- Time: Every Tuesday and Thursday at 22:00 (subject to team adjustments)
- Capacity: Up to 400 players per faction, 800 players total
Once the battlefield reaches maximum capacity, the entrance closes, so players should queue early.
The battlefield rules are designed for ground combat:
- Flying is disabled
- Gliding is allowed
- Large-scale melee battles are expected
During battles, players earn points by defeating bosses and completing objectives. Player kills also provide points, but they contribute less compared with objective control and boss defeats.
The faction with the higher score wins. Individual performance also matters, as final rewards such as Abyss Points and Gold Medals are determined by personal contribution.
